Monday, Oct. 5 - Happy Hour. Let's meet at Evans Prairie Country Club (off Buena Vista) 4 - 6 pm for drinks and/or dinner.  No RSVP is necessary.

​Tuesday, Oct. 6 - Movie and Meal. We meet for a matinee movie inside the Epic Theatre at Lake Sumter Landing in front of the room where the movie will play 15 minutes before the movie.  This month's movie will be decided by a poll on Facebook starting the Thursday before the movie.  Please vote for your choices and then check on the Monday before it to see which movie and what time.  (If you don't do Facebook, you can email Monika with your choice.)

We each get our own tickets, and you can buy them at the theater window, or skip the line and buy them online at Epic's website or at the kiosk inside the theater (my favorite).  If you join their Loyalty Club, the tickets are less than $7 on Tuesdays!  Please wear your name tag so we can find each other.  Afterwards we will go for an optional meal and socializing at Lake Sumter Landing.

Tuesday, Oct. 6 - New Member Happy Hour. Meet at Brownwood Hotel and Spa at 4 pm.  This event is hosted by our New Member Coordinator Elizabeth White. Please RSVP to Lucy Rathier by Sept. 29.

Thursday, Oct. 8 - Book Club. The club meets the second Thursday of the month at 1 pm at Fenney Recreation Center.  This month's book is Conduct Unbecoming a Woman by Regina Morantz-Sanchez.

Friday, Oct. 16 - Walk and Talk.  This activity resumes this month at 10 am, place TBA.  There is a meal option following the walk.

Monday, Oct. 19 - Lunch. We meet for lunch on the third Monday of the month at 11:30 am. Location this month is Prima Steakhouse in Brownwood. RSVP to Janice; she will always need a head count for reservations.

 

Thursday, Oct. 22 - General Meeting. The meeting is on the fourth Thursday of the month at 12 noon at Sterling Heights Recreation. Our speaker is Brigadier General Richard Moss, who will present "Hurricane Hunters." There is time to socialize and eat your bag lunch after the presentation. ​

 

Thursday, Oct. 22 - New Member Orientation. We will hold this at Saluki Recreation Center at 6 pm.  RSVP to Lucy Rathier by Oct. 19.  WDC members can invite potential members to this event.

Sunday, Oct. 25 - Arts, Crafts & Curious. The craft time starts at 1:30 pm at Lake Okahumpka Recreation Center the fourth Sunday of the month. This month we have "Preparing for the Unexpected" with Kathleen Gowin and Lucy Rathier..​

Tuesday, Nov. 10 - Outing 1. The "Dancing in the Moonlight Annual Show" will be at Colony Recreation Center 3-4:30 pm. This is a Villagers performance group.  It's good and free, but space is first come-first show.

Thursday, Nov. 12 - Book Club. The club meets the second Thursday of the month at 1 pm at Fenney Recreation Center.  This month's book is Yellowface by R.F. Kuang. No RSVP required.

​

Saturday, Nov. 14 - Outing 2. The "Grand Master Rodeo" (Dragon Boats) begins at 9 am and ends around 5 pm at Eastport Lake. Dragon Boat Villages race each other. Come support some Dragon Docs: Wendie and Wanda. Festive atmosphere and food trucks!

General Meeting Alternative, Nov. 19 - Thanksgiving Luncheon. We will meet at noon at Sterling Heights Recreation Center.  This is catered and free, but you must RSVP by Nov. 6.  Also, there are no regular general meetings or luncheons this month or next because of holiday luncheons.

 

Friday, Nov. 20 - Walk and Talk.  This activity is held on the third Friday of the month, place TBA.  There is a meal option following the walk.​

WEEKLY EVENTS

​Bridge.  We are looking for someone to coordinate this. Interested?  Contact Lucy or Kathleen.

​

Golf. WDC’s three golf groups play weekly.  The groups are relaxed and non-competitive.  Contact Coordinator for locations and tee times. Weather might keep these events from happening, so contact coordinators.

​

• Golf-Northern Villages.   The North group plays executive courses between C.R. 42 and Lake Sumter Landing on Thursdays. Coordinator:  Dorothy Cook-Walter. 

• Golf-Central Villages.  The Central group plays executive courses between C.R. 466 and S.R. 44 on Fridays. Coordinator: Jane Howard.

• Golf-Southern Villages.  The South group plays executive courses south of S.R. 44 (Fenney and Eastport) on Wednesdays.  Coordinator: Kim Stoker.

Mahjong.  The group meets Mondays at 1 pm in members' homes. You must know how to play at an intermediate or above level. Contact Judi Bessette to take part. (Currently Monika Sacks is scheduling sessions.)

Samba.  The group plays on Wednesdays at 1 pm in members' homes.  Contact Nancy Sacks to play.
