EVENTS

We  encourage members and potential members to join us for monthly meetings at Sterling Heights Recreation Center on the fourth Thursday of (almost) every month at noon.  Contact us at WomenDocsVillages2022@gmail.com if you have questions or would like to join. Meetings are conducted in person and on Zoom.

JUNE 2025

Monday, June 16th – Luncheon. June’s lunch will be at Sawgrass Tavern (formerly McGrady’s Pub) at 11:30 am. It is located at 810 Marilee Place. Please let Janice Matthews know if you are coming; she needs a head count for reservations.

Tuesday, June 17th – Outing. Like touring new houses? Want to discover what The Villages is now offering to new buyers? This outing is for you! Model homes include a range of indoor floor models and show prospective residents what they can do creatively with their outdoor spaces. The interiors feature collaborations with major furniture vendors, like Ethan Allen, Pottery Barn and City Furniture.  Participants will gather in the parking lot outside the Sawgrass Sales Office at Sawgrass Grove and car pool from there. You need to be in the parking lot by 9:30 am. For additional details contact Susan Long.

Wednesday, June 18th – Theatre. The WDC group led by Christie St-John will attend I Love, You’re Perfect, Now Change at the Studio Theatre. The play begins at 7 pm. There will be a 4:30 pm pre-play dinner option, place TBA. I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change is the second-longest running musical off-Broadway. It is a series of sketches about relationships: dating, romance, marriage, in-laws, husbands, and wives.

Thursday, June 26th – Monthly Meeting. The topic for June is choices in senior housing in our area. Lisa Hoka of Senior Living Options will provide an overview and suggestions for resources. The meeting begins at noon, with time afterwards for bag lunches and socializing. This will also be the last meeting with our current Co-Presidents: Wanda Smith-Kearns and Ellen Seckar.

Sunday, June 22nd – Arts and Crafts. The crafting begins at 1:30 pm. Swarovski bracelet-making will be our task. Swarovski is an Austrian maker of glass, founded in the late 19th-century. Currently, it produces items in three broad categories: jewelry; optical tools including telescopes; and machine tools. The June session will focus on producing a glass bracelet. Let the coordinators know if you are planning to attend, so they procure sufficient crafting materials.
